Meet Adagio

A PLACE TO GROW. A COMMUNITY TO BELONG.

Founded in 2010 by Artistic Director Christina Green, Adagio Dance Studio was created with a simple belief: Dance has the power to develop more than great dancers. It can build confidence, discipline, creativity, connection and community.

From a child's very first dance class to advanced and pre-professional training, Adagio creates pathways that allow dancers to be challenged, nurtured, and developed at every stage of their journey.

OUR APPROACH

Intentional Training. Individual Growth.

At Adagio placement and training go beyond age alone. We consider each dancer's experience, potential, work ethic, and readiness for growth.

Our curriculum emphasizes strong technical foundations while developing artistry, musicality, and individual expression. Whether a dancer is taking their first class or preparing for the next level, we provide the support, challenge, and opportunities they need to grow with confidence.

OUR STORY

When the studio closed, Adagio kept moving.

When the COVID-19 pandemic closed the world in 2020, Adagio found a new way to dance. Through our "In This Together" initiative, classes first transitioned online, but we quickly recognized our dancers' need for movement, connection, and community beyond a screen.

We took dance outdoors, transforming Hamilton/Driskell Park into an open air studio where our classes grew to over 60 dancers. What began as a response to an unprecedented season became one of the defining chapters of Adagio's story.

We danced outside. We created. We performed. And most importantly, we remained connected.

Christina Green

Founder & Studio Director

With more than 30 years of experience in dance education, performance, choreography, and ministry, Christina Green is a passionate educator and artist known for identifying gifted dancers early, developing strong technical foundations, and cultivating artistry in every dancer she trains.

Christina began her dance journey at age two and went on to train in classical ballet and dance performance while building a distinguished career in dance ministry. At 14, she founded The Anointed Dance Ministry, which grew into a nationally recognized ensemble that trained and mentored hundreds of dancers. As the ministry evolved into TADMAC (The Anointed Dance Ministry & Company), Christina expanded its creative reach through original stage productions known as “dancicals”—full theatrical productions that united dance, storytelling, music, and drama. Bringing together dancers and a dedicated theater production team, she created memorable productions that captivated audiences and expanded the possibilities of dance ministry. Throughout her career, Christina has helped cultivate dancers who have gone on to become professional performers, choreographers, studio owners, educators, and prominent leaders in the arts.

In 2010, Christina founded Adagio Dance Studio, later establishing its home in the Hyattsville Arts District. Today, she serves as Founder & Artistic Director of Adagio Dance Studio, Dance Director at Lanham Christian School, and Minister of Dance at TACA Church. Her work continues to bring together technical excellence, artistic expression, faith, and community.

Her mission remains simple: to cultivate technically strong, artistically expressive dancers who are confident in their gifts and equipped to make their own mark on the world of dance.

We believe dancers should be seen.
Gifts should be cultivated.
Art should tell stories

AT ADAGIO, DANCE UNITES US ALL.
